How it is made

Nine weeks, thirty-two hours at the bench.

Every stage is photographed and sent on the day it happens. This is what happens, in order.

01

Measuring

Two hours with you and the bike you ride now. We measure, we film you pedalling, and we draw the geometry in front of you.

Week 1

02

Cut and mitre

Columbus tubing cut by hand and mitred until the gap disappears. It is the longest stage and it decides everything after it.

Weeks 2–4

03

Brazing

Brass at six hundred and twenty degrees, joint by joint, with the frame back on the alignment table between each one. Then days of filing.

Weeks 5–7

04

Paint

Stripped, primed, two coats and a lacquer. You choose the colour in week six, standing over the finished frame.

Weeks 8–9
