The cardamom knots sell out by eleven on a Saturday and I now plan my week around that.

Came in soaked from a walk round the walls with a wet spaniel. They brought him a towel before they brought us menus.

Best flat white in York, and I have done the research. The sourdough to take home is the real reason I go.

We hired the café for our daughter’s christening. Thirty people, a lemon cake people still mention, and the bill was exactly what they quoted.

Questions
Before you come in.
Anything else, ring the café on 01632 960418 or email hello@morrowyork.co.uk.
Can I book a table?
We keep it walk-in, so whoever turns up at nine on a Saturday has the same chance of a seat as anyone. For six or more on a weekday, ring us the day before and we will put a table aside.
Are dogs welcome?
Yes, inside and in the courtyard. There are water bowls by the door and a biscuit jar on the counter. We ask that they stay on the floor rather than the benches.
How do you handle allergies?
Every dish has its allergens written in the book on the counter, and whoever serves you will go through it with you. We bake with nuts, wheat and sesame in one small kitchen, so we cannot promise anything is free of traces.
Do you have gluten-free options?
Gluten-free toast and the lemon and polenta cake every day, and the kitchen can swap the bread on most brunch dishes. Tell us when you order.
Can I order a whole cake?
Yes, with four days’ notice, for collection from the café. Use the form above or ring us; the message on top is included in the price.
Do you do takeaway?
Everything on the counter, every coffee and most of the brunch menu, boxed in card. Bring your own cup and it is 25p off.
Can I work on a laptop?
On weekdays before eleven and after two, and the Wi-Fi is free. At weekends we keep the tables for eating, so the laptops stay in the bag.
Can we hire the café?
On Friday and Saturday evenings from six, for up to 34 seated or 50 standing. Food is from £18 a head with a minimum spend of £450. Email us with a date and a rough number.
